Organic Spelt Grain, hulled

What is it?

Spelt, also called Dinkel (triticum spelta), is an ancient grain related to wheat. It was previously widely grown in Europe but due to its low yield and difficult growing characteristics it has mostly been replaced by modern wheat.

This is an excellent, high quality Spelt/Dinkel which will not only make a beautiful loaf of bread but can also be used for the full range of baking. Biodynamically grown here in beautiful New Zealand on one of NZ's first certified organic farms.

What are the nutritional benefits?

Spelt/Dinkel is a nutritious addition to your diet. It's an excellent source of dietary fibre and provides several essential nutrients, such as iron, magnesium and zinc.

Where can I use it?

Spelt/Dinkel flour is a wonderful easily digestable product having a pleasant nutty taste. It can be used for bread but also for the full range of baking (cakes, biscuits, scones and pizza bases...) in exactly the same way as ordinary wheat flour though the bread dough may take longer to rise.
