How to Cook It

1. Rinse the rice until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
2. Use 2 cups of water or stock for every 1 cup of rice.
3. Bring to the boil, then reduce to a low simmer.
4. Cover the pot and cook for 20–25 minutes until all the water is absorbed.
5. Remove from heat and let stand for a few minutes, then fluff with a fork.

Cooked basmati is dry and fluffy — ideal alongside curries, dals, stews, stir-fries, and grilled meats. Also excellent in rice salads and pilafs.
